"50 Years of the Goddard Scientific Colloquium"

The first Goddard Scientific Colloquium was held on September 17, 1965.  Since that time, more than 1600 speakers have participated in the series, covering a broad range of science topics.  The driving force behind the colloquium series at the beginning and continuing for over 25 years was Dr. Jaylee (Burley) Mead, who was supported by a committee that included many Goddard space and Earth scientists.  This special colloquium will include a brief history of the series and some of the notable speakers who have been part of it, followed by several short scientific talks reviewing how a few of the topics from the series have evolved since they were first presented.
