"Dwarf Galaxies and the Smallest Supermassive Black Holes"

In this presentation, I will discuss how observations of dwarf galaxies with world-class telescopes are being used to discover the smallest supermassive black holes known. Work in this area is not only important for a holistic understanding of dwarf galaxy evolution, but may also tell us how the first "seeds" of supermassive black holes formed in the early Universe.

About the Speaker:

Dr. Reines holds a Ph.D. in Astronomy from the University of Virginia, subsequently receiving NASA Einstein and Hubble Postdoctoral Fellowships before joining the faculty of Montana State University.
