"Dwarf Galaxies
and the Smallest Supermassive Black Holes"
In this presentation, I will discuss how observations of dwarf
galaxies with world-class telescopes are being used to discover
the smallest supermassive black holes known. Work in this area
is not only important for a holistic understanding of dwarf
galaxy evolution, but may also tell us how the first "seeds" of
supermassive black holes formed in the early Universe.
About the Speaker:
Dr. Reines holds a Ph.D. in Astronomy from the University of
Virginia, subsequently receiving NASA Einstein and Hubble
Postdoctoral Fellowships before joining the faculty of Montana
State University.
