Dr. McGee will present an overview of the status of the science and policy surrounding the efforts to clean up the Chesapeake Bay. Her presentation will include a summary of the health and ecological problems of the Chesapeake Bay, drawn from the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s 2012 “State of the Bay” report, as well as a brief history of Bay restoration efforts, lessons learned, and the events that led up to what many Bay policy-makers and scientists have called “The Moment in Time” for Bay restoration. Finally, she will discuss the ongoing political and legal threats to maintaining the progress toward Bay clean up.
