Scientific Colloquium
December 3, 2004
Robert P. Crease, a philosopher
who writes a monthly column entitled
"Critical Point" for PHYSICS
WORLD, will talk about the results of a survey
he conducted of the "Most
Beautiful Experiments in Science." He will
discuss the ten experiments most
frequently mentioned by those polled, and
the reasons given for thinking
these experiments beautiful. He will also
discuss what it means for
experiments, if they can be beautiful, and what
it means for beauty, if
experiments can possess it.
